Mr. and Mrs. L Mirfield, of Gisberne, are at Stonehurst, and next week will leave by the Navua on a trip to the Islands. Mr. Mirfield is a member of the Gisboraa Borough Council, and in that capacity w2i take j>art in the reception to the Prince of Wales.

Sir Joseph Ward, who has returned from Sydney in the best of health, will be the guest of the Government at functions connected with the visit of the Prince of Wales. Sir Joseph visits England after the conclusion of the Royal tour.

Captain Ziman, the first Rhodes scholar from Auckland, will leave for Sydney by the Niagara to-morrow, en route to "London, prior to returning to India. Captain Zunan has been collecting data concerning local government, town-planning, etc., for the Government of the Bombay Presidency.

Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Craig, who left Auckland a few months ago on a trip to America, returned by the Niagara yesterday. They travelled through Canada and the United States. Unfortunately Mr. Craig, whose health had not been good before leaving Auckland, had a serious illaess in New York, and he is still in an indifferent state of health.

Tie Rev. S- Lawry, connexioTial secretary of the New Zealand Methodist Conference, will -cave Christchurch at the end of this month to represent the New Zealand Conference at the meeting of the New Zealand and Australian Methodist Conference m Sydney. The conference will deal with a proposal that the New Zealand Methodist mission field should be extended to include the Solomon Islands.
