MINERS' DAY OFF.
NO WORK AT ROTOWARO.
TROUBLE OVER RAILWAY TRUCKS.
The colliers employed at the Taupiri Coal Company's mine at Rotowaro declined to work yesterday owing to a shortage of railway trucks. The men considered there were not sufficient trucks to keep them going for the day, and although the stationmaster assured them that more trucks would be arriving they remained obdurate. Work at the company's Extended mine proceeded as usual. A similar stoppage of work occurred at Rotowaro last Thursday, when the Extended and Pukemiro mines were also affected. On that occasion work had to be suspended during the morning on account of the shortage of trucks. Work was done as usual on Monday and the men put in a full day at the mines.
