Hauraki —Since starting unwatering operations on March 16 the water in the mine has been lowered 40ft. The 100 ft level of the Hauraki shaft is now clear of water. New Waitaia. reef in the winze was taken down on Saturday. In the south end it is aTiice body of ore, lit wide, showing colours of gold in the stone. In the north end there is'a patch of conglomerate at present. These patches are never of any great extent, and are characteristic of this reef, and may give place _to quarts at any moment. The plant is working well, and all difficulties with the pumps have been overcome.
