STARVING CENTRAL EUROPE.

FUND FOR RELIEF OF CHILDREN. The question of raising a fund for the relief of 4.000,000 starving children in Central Europe was discussed at a meeting, representative of all denominations, held in the Magistrate's Court building yesterday, having been convened bv Mr E. C. Cutten, S.M.

Cleary, who presided, dealt with the appeal issued by the Archbishop of Canterbury and other prominent churchmen in the United Kingdom in connection with the " Save the Children Fund," and stated that its support was a duty devolving upon every Christian A committee was appointed to arrange for a public meeting to further the proposal, to be held in the Town Hall con cert chamber on April 6, and to ask the Mayor Mr J. H- Gunson, to preside. It was deeded to ask the clergy to make the appeal the subject of a discourse and to request the churches to make a collec tion in aid of the fund.
