THE VETERANS' HOME.

CHANGE IN CONTROL.

The decision of the Auckland Patriotic Association *to take over the control of the Veterans' Home was reaffirmed by the executive of the association yesterday. A letter was received from the Hon. E. Mitchelson, on behalf of the present trustees of the home, asking that steps be taken to complete the transfer. The president. Mr. J. H. Gunson, stated that the advice of the city solicitor was that an amendment cf the rules of the association and legislation to enable it to expend money on such an object were necessary. There would be no difficulty about .either formality. Mr. A. S. Bankart, treasurer of the association, reported that the home had recently benefited by a bequest of £3000, which provided it with an income of £150 per annum more than it had possessed before. The president and Messrs. Bankart and V. J. Lamer were appointed a sub-committee to arrange for carrying out the necessary formalities preliminary to taking over control of the home.
