Hunter and Byan were at last despatched 10 ft good start ami before many lengths were covered Hunter was in the lead and won by half a length. Fours stroked by Verram, Dawes and McEoberts met in the second heat verram was first to show to advantage and at the half distance led by half a length from McEoberts. The positions were maintained until close to tho line when McEoberts made a bold bid. Terrain's four warded off the challenge and crossed the line a quarter of a length ahead. The strokes in the third heat were Jerrom, Bright and Cole. Owing to the interference, Twvartlwn was . allowed to compete in the final and met crews stroked by Ogilvy and Hunter. A. capital start was effected and. Penny, and ]3itd met in the first heat, but an accident to Bird's crew at the post compelled Hi. to retire. Emery had no trouble in disposing of Ponny's four, and crossed the line two lengths to the good. Donnelly and Sunn an stroked the crews of the second heat, r'rom a splendid start tho boats were on even terms until well over half-way. Th«n a series of spurts gave each crew a turn in the lead. Close on the finishiua: fee Human was in front, and, although Donnelly made a splendid effort, Surman held his own and won by about six "o'Loughlin. Cozens, and Aimer had a groat race in tho third heat. When three parts of the course had been traversed O'Loughlin spurted, and, gaming a lead of a length, held it until the line was crossed. Emery. O'Loughlin. and Surman met in the final. Tho crows moved off together, but very little of the journey was covered, when Surman'a chances were , seen to bo hopeless. Emery and O'Loughlin had a great struggle, tho, former's, crew eventually winning by a length. The winning crew was: Emery. Scott, Rees, Blennornsteett.

WAITEMiTA BOATING CLUB. ! Members of the : Waitemata Boating Club competed for trophies presented by the vicecommodore. Mr. W. G. Smith. Crews, stroked by Hadfield and Campbell mot in the first heat, and a good lace resulted in ft length victory lor Campbell. Cairns' and Marshall's crewa met in the second heat. Cairns took the lead at the 1 start and held it throughout, winning by a ™\'hito and Wolfgram competed in' the third heat. The crews raced together until close to the finishing line, where White spurted and won by three-quarters or a length. The final was contested by Cairns, Camp-

Tho Auckland Clnb competed for the Kohn Stevenson, Barber, and Hawos, stroked the crews in the. first heat. Soon alter the start Barber went into tho lead. Stevenson put in a strong challenge a hundred yards from the line, but Barber's four, were equal to all demands, and crossed the lino ft length ahead. , . , . Murray and Hawes had a spirited race in the second heat. Hawos went into the lead just after the start and kept in front for half tho journey. Murray" then put in hie claim and won by two clear lengths. Lovett and Fleming met in the third I heat the former winning by a canvas. . Barber, Lovett, and Murray competed in the final. Murray assumed the lead at the start, but Barber's crow soon displaced him. On© of Lovelt's four broke an oar at this stage and had to retire. Barter won easily by three lengths. The winning crew was: Barber. V. Murray, J. West, C. McCormack.
