out This was smartly aono and tho boats were Bent away to a. good start at 1 p.m. Meteor was first away and was followed by Betty, Omaki, and Desert Gold in that order. Meteor was first round the pile beacon at li*j-»w»tor; , .then came Desert Gold, Betty, and Omafa. On tho beat to the mark at the tide deflector Desert Go was leading Meteor by about a length. Betty was now lying third, while Omaki. which won a long way astern, gave up. Just before the Watchman was reached, Betty, sailing splendidly, passed Meteor and Desert Gold. Rounding the Pill beacon the order was: Betty, Meteor, Defert Gold. Those positions remained unchanged until the finish of the race.
