I The Royal Mail steamer Makura arrived from Vancouver at 5.25 a.m. yesterday. .Iter medical inspection in the stream she berthed at tho Queen's Wharf at 9.35 a.m. to land her passengers and mails. She hit i Vancouver on December 19, and made the run to Honolulu under very stormy conditions. For 61 days the wind blew a hard gale from the south-east, accompanied by a high sea. The wind and sea were ahead and tho constant pitching of the vessel for such a lengthy period made the trip anything but pleasant for the passen- t gors. Owing to the adverse weather condi- 1 lions the speed of tho vessel was moderated and she arrived at Honolulu a day late, ; Very little water was shipped and no damage was done. From Honolulu the voyage to Auckland was made under fine weather conditions. She has 387 passengers all told, of whom 162 landed at Auckland. Her cargo totals 2000 tons, of which 1600 tons will be landed here for Auckland and other New Zealand ports. Tho New Zealand cargo consists of 3680 cases of canned goods, 1232 rolls of paper. 1709 bundles of paper, 206 cases of paper. 435 cases of bananas, and general merchandise.
