DISEASE ON STEAMER.
SMALLPOX AND INFLUENZA. VESSEL IN QUARANTINE. A. and N.Z SYDNEY, Jan. 6The steamer Roggeveen, which recently arrived from New Caledonia, has been quarantined owing to an outbreak of influenza on board. A cablegram from Noumea states that one of the steamer's patients landed there developed smallpox, and the others influenza. Several of the latter died. The victims were coolies.
