Savill, and Albion steamer Pakeha, which is loading at New Zealand ports for England, is now at Napier, and is expected to leave there for Whangarei 1 shortly. The latest advices from A. and A. headquarters gives the following particulars of i vessels en route to the Dominion: — The Armagh loft New York on December , 12 tor Auckland. Melbourne. I She will load cargo for Liverpool in New , Zealand ports during February. i The Gharanda left New York on December 10 for Lyttelton and Australian ports. The City of Bombay is due hero from New York on Christmas Eve. THE PORT CAROLINE.' The new twin-screw steamer Port. Caroline, built by Workman, Clark and Co.. Ltd.. left Belfast on November 11 to adjust compasses and carry out official trials. The Port Caroline is a handsomely modelled twin-screw steamer built to the order -of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, Ltd., & and will be used by them in their colonial service. The registered dimensions are 480 ft long, 62ft broad, and 33ft deep, with . a gross tonnage of 8270 and net tonnage of 5108. There are five large cargo holds arranged for the carriage of frozen and general cargoes, and the pillaring arrangements have been designed to render the holds free from structural obstruction. The cargo gear is of the latest type, and the large number of winches and derricks are specially arranged for the expeditious handling of cargoes. The machinery which was also built by Workman, Clark and Co., consists, of two sets of double reduction turbjnea with ample boiler power, and the speed of the vessel is 14 knots. The Port Carc- . hne proceeded to Glasgow, where she loaded part cargo for New Zealand, completing at Liverpool. The Port Curtis, another vessel for the same company, will shortly run trials at Belfast and the Port Bowen has arrived there for overhaul.
