♦■ ESTATE NEAR TE AWAMUTU. BALLOT FOR 18 SECTIONS. MANY APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. A. ballot among rettnme<i soldiers for sections on the Puahue Settlement, in the West Taupo County, was held yesterday by the Auckland Land Board. The settlement was purchased from Mr. W. G. Park under the Lands for Settlement Act. It is from 10 to 12 miles eastward from Te AwamutuL Most of the sections already have road access, and provision is made for this facility in cases where roads have not already been constructed. Puahue comprises some first-class country. Most of the area is in grass, but there is a small portion of swamp land. The largest sections are particularly- suitable for sheep, and the smaller ones for grazing or dairy purposes. All the sections offered -were taken up.
