N.S. WALES ORCHESTRA.
VISIT TO AUCKLAND.
COMMITTEE'S ARRANGEMENTS
The Executive Committee in connection with the approaching visit of the New South Wales State Orchestra met last evening, the. chairman, Mr. C. Hudson, presiding. It was reported that guarantees had been given to the extent of £1500. The amount asked for from Auckland was £2000. The orchestra is to leave Sydney on December 31, arriving in Auckland on January 4. Considerable difficulty has been experienced in securing accommodation for so large a body of visitors at tie holiday season. So far 45 beds have been secured. No response has been received to the request that the 20 lady members of the orchestra should be billeted with residents. The prices for the concert were fixed. No booking will be allowed, except in the circle, guarantors to have priority. It was decided to arrange for an addition to the platform at the Town Hall to accommodate 80 orchestral players, and also to ask the organising secretary, Mr. Gladstone Hill, to visit Auckland at once, as many matters of urgency are arising.
