BRITISH RULE IN EGYPT.
AMERICA'S ATTITUDE. A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON. Dec. 18. Mr. Robert Lansing, in a letter to Mr. R. L. Owen, a member of the Senate, with reference to America's qualified recognition of the British protectorate over Egypt, said that the United States assumed that Britain intended to carry out the assurance given by King George to the late Sultan that self-government would eventually be granted to Egypt.
