SUNSHADE FASHIONS.
For the river or for country wear in August a big sunshade of Japanese outline made of bright red silk and finished off with small black tassels, a tassel for each black rib, is a new device. The stick must* be of black wood, ebony if possible, and the handle of white horn. It is an amazingly smart sunshade, and one which is at its best when seen with white linen or muslin dress.
Flat Japanese sunshades for garden parties or similar festivities are covered with brightly coloured printed silks and finished off, on the ribs, with metallic and black silk tassels.
