FLIGHTS TO AUSTRALIA.
KANGAROO DISABLED.
STRANDED IN CRETE.
LONDON, Dec. 17.
Lieutenant Rendle, one of the crew of the Blackburn Kangaroo leroplane, which left London on November 21 to fly to Australia, tables from Crete that the main oil pipe was broken when the machine Sanded, the connecting rods were broken, and the crank case was toled. The engine is useless, and a lomplete new one is necessary. The friends of Captain Wilkins, leader of {he party, are negotiating with the Rolls-Royce Co., but it is expected {hat the flight will be abandoned.

The opinion of experts regarding {he loss of the Martinsyde is that Captain Howell lose his way, and ifter hours of vain wanderings became desperate to find a position through the clouds before his petrol rave out. Perhaps he merely (hanced on the route. It is more ikely that he kept going in a series >f great circles, never far off the line, yet never knowing where. It p suggested that the machine took {be water badly, crumpled up and lank immediately. Probably the bodies are pinned under the wrecktge.
