YOUNG CITIZENS' LEAGUE.

Wealth, he said, had itg dangers. In some of the homes of the rich there ' are too many temptations t« became eelJ fish, thoughtless and inconsiderate, while, on the other hand, among the poor the homes are sometimes not sufficiently comfortable and attractive to make home life what it should be. The nation's greatness depended upon the moral character of each individual, and for this reason example and whole-hearted- consideration by parents of the best' interests of the children was never more necessary than in this period of social reconstruction. The principles for which the league stood, namely, rever- ■ ence for God, . honour, "truth, chivalry, j brotherly love, and unselfishness, would, l if adhered to in our daily life, materially t assist in bringing about a better Under- , standing between all classes of the com- ' munity and lead to a greater measure of ® prosperity and happiness in this and other countries. It was to this end that the r league was actively -operating; in the ' development of its members for true citizenship. 1 An attractive programme of musical and j other items was contributed by members J of the branch. Mr. McPhail said the league -was doing r excellent work under the superintendence 3 of Rev. Percy Cooke and those associated 1 with him.
