THE RAILWAY SERVICE.
"LIMITED" EXPRESS TRAINS. ' PROBABLE INSTITUTION. NOT SUITABLE FOR HOLIDAYS. Th© criticisms that have been passed in Auckland over the running of an ordinary second express between Auckland aiid Wellington rather than the limited express were referred last evening to the Prime Minister, who is also Minister for Railways. Mr. Massey said the running of j the second express was only a temporary arrangement. While it was a very suitable train for the end of December and the beginning of January, th© Depart- ! ment expected to make a better arrangeI ment for the remainder of the year. A | limited express, he added, was not suitable for the season of, the year when there was heavy holiday traffic. HOLIDAY EXCURSION FARES. RETURN TICKETS TO BE ISSUED. Holiday excursion tickets are to be issued on all railway lines in the Dominion from Thursday, December 18, to Saturday, January 3. All tickets issued between those dates will be available for return up to and including Wednesday, February 18. The Department have also decided to recommence, on December 18, the issue of return tickets for distances over 100 miles. The scale of holiday excursion fares' has not yet been decided upon.
