ROSS SMITH IN JAVA.
ARRIVAL ON FRIDAY. FLIGHT FROM SINGAPORE. FOUR DAYS FROM AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph Press Association Copyright. (Received 8.30 p.m.) A. and N.Z. BATAVIA, Dec. 5. Captain Ross Smith passed Batavia at 3.25 p.m. to-day. He arrived and landed at Kalidjotte at 4 p.m. In an interview he stated that if the weather was favourable, he intended starting at daylight tomorrow for Sourabaya, on the northeast coast of Java, a four hours' flight. In anj| case, he was within four days of Australia. Dutch flying officers shouldered him On arrival at Kalidjotte, and j carried him into the presence of the Governor-General, who welcomed him. > FLIGHT ACROSS ISLAND. SOURABAYA REACHED. (Received 12.30 a.m.) A. and N.Z. WELTEVREDEN (Java). Dec. 6. Captain Ross Smith left Kalidjotte for Sourabaya at 7.30 a.m. to-day, and arrived at Sourabaya at noon. Etienne Poulet has had the engine of his aeroplane completely overhauled, and after a trial trip on Sunday he intends leaving for Bangkok ion Monday morning.
