POLICE COURT NEWS.
SHORT LIST OF CASES. ; Four offenders were dealt with by Mr. ' J. K. Wilson, S.M., in the- Police Court on Saturday. Robert McKenzic Montgomery admitted the theft of a watch worth £5 and 2s 6d in money from Frederick Cliffs. ChiefDetective McMahon said that the accused had stolen the articles from a soldier who had been good enough to give hirn a lodging for the night. The magistrate placed | the accused on probation for 12 month®, a'id ordered restitution of the money. Johanne Johannerson, for being absent from the White Pine without leave, and James Conway, another seaman from the .-line vessel, for drunkenness, were each convicted and dischadged on their undertaking to return to the vessel at once. One first offending inebriate was convicted and dicharged.
