I « j BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETS. '. IMPROVING WINDSOR RESERVE. The Devonport Borough Council met . last evening. The Mayor, Mr. H. S. W. . King, Dresided, and there were also pre- ' sent Messrs. J. Fletcher, J. Mays, G. B. Pearce, -R. Spinley, T. H. Palmer, J. ' Luxford, and W. Perry Taylor. The Mayor reported that he had heard '■ of an offer to negotiate for the lease of a i kiosk on the seafront, adjacent to the Windsor Reserve, if the council would erect such a building. The Mayor said he deemed the matter worthy of earnest consideration, and on his recommendation v. it was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee. The Mayer also reported that he had received offers of sale from two owners of sections fronting Cheltenham Beach. The council was of opinion that these sections might possibly be acquired for the erection of bathing eheds, and referred the offers, and the matter of purchase to the Legal and Finance Committee. The Mayor further reported the successful inauguration of periormanres by the Auckland City Band in the Windsor Reserve. The Valuer-General replied to a letter from the council stating that all steps . would be taken to revalue the' borough j in time for the 1920 rating. ■j "The road and footpath in front of my residence in Shoal Bay Road are in such a disgraceful state that I cannot gain access by either cab or nß>tor-car, and recently I had my money refunded en a cart load of coal which the carter could not deliver," was the complaint from a ratepayer, received by the council. The clerk was instructed to reply stating that the matter was already being considered by the Public Works and Services Committee.
