"GO-SLOW" RUMOURS.

NO FOUNDATION IN FACT.

POSITION IN BOOT INDUSTRY.

Rumours to the effect that "go-slow" tactics had developed in one of the principal boot factories in Auckland are emphatically contradicted by the head of the firm concerned.

"So far from it being true," he said yesterday, "we have actually a 'go-quick' policy in operation. Thanks to the system of bonuses which obtains in our factory, in common with other factories in the industry, our operatives are working to their full capacity. The proof of this is to be seen in the fact that some of the men are earning wages up to £5, £6, and £7 a week, as against the minimum wage of £3 7s 6d fixed by the Dominion award. You may take it from me that our factory is a happy family, and very far from "goslow.' "

Inquiries made from the management of several other city boot factories elicited similar information as regards their works.
