SURVEY PARTIES WITHDRAWN

PROTEST FROM RESIDENTS.

TAUR3TNGA, Saturday.

A meeting of residents, held last evening, decided to send an emphatic protest to the Prime Minister and the Hon. W. H. Herries, member for the district, against the removal of survey parties from the Tauranga-Waihi section of the railway.

It was also decided that Mr. H. Poland, M.P.. Mr. J. A. Young, M.P., the Mayor of Waihi, the Te Puke Town Board, and the Katikati Road Board, be asked to cooperate in urging more rapid construction of this pfcrtion of the railway. The Mayor accordingly despatched a telegram this morning' to Messrs. Massey and Hemes on the lines indicated.
