AVONDALE ROAD BOARD.

The Avondale Road Board met on Wednesday, Mr. R. B. Nesbitt presiding. There were also present : Messrs. F. Hampshire, A. Morgan, W. J. Tail, JThomas, C. F. Gardner, and R. J. Allely. The New Lynn Town Board wrote suggesting that the two bodies confer regarding the advisability of joint action in taking advantage of the provisions of the Public Health Act, 1918, whereby local bodies may subsidise medical services out of the local rates. The suggestion was agreed to. An application to allow a block of land to be cut up into lesser areas than aquarter acre each was declined. Mr. C. F. Gardner reported having attended the conference of local bodies to discuss the gas question and the F.orahora hydro-electric power scheme. He mived that the board ascertain the probable amount of power required and applv for a portion of the Horahora power, ihe application to be made in conjunction with the New Lynn town district. This was agreed to, the details to be investigated by a sub-committee consisting of the chairman, Mr. Alleiy, and Mr. Gardner. The chairman announced that the Mount Albert Borough Council had consented to act in conjunction with the board to raise the roadway on top of the culvert at Oakley Bridge, on the New North Road, to effect a better grade. It was decided to apply to the Government for a £ for £ subsidy towards the work. It was decided to communicate with the Auckland Gas Company with a view to getting a rebate on street lamps not lighted.
