THE TOWN HALL ORGAN.
ADJUNCT TO ORCHESTRA.
Certain difficulties in connection with the use of the Town Hall organ as an adjunct to the oratorio performances of the Auckland Choral Society were mentioned in a communication from the society to the City Council last evening. It was stated that the pitch of the organ was lower than that of the brass, and wind instruments used in Auckland, and that the society could use the organ in conjunction with its stringed instruments only. In the circumstances it was considered that the present fees for the use of the organ were prohibitive, and that the charge for rehearsal was high. It was suggested that a, charge of £1 10s for lighting and £1 for the use of the organ would cover expenses, and allow the* 1 society to bring the organ into use. The city organi6t suggested consideration of a concession to local societies, -where more than one rehearsal waa desired. The matter was referred to the Leeal and Finance Committee.... >
