SPEECH BY THE QUEEN.
DEFENCE OF DUTCH RIGHTS. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7 p.m.) THE HAGUE. Sept. 16. At the opening of the States General Queen Wilhelmina, referring to the relations of Holland with Belgium, said that the Dutch Government had been called upon emphatically to defend the rights of the States General and its integrity. " My thoughts," she said, " in intimate union with my people, turn towards Limburg, Zeeland and Flanders, whose fidelity, devotion, solidarity, and strength have found unmistakable impression in our national unity."
The Queen's speech foreshadowed a tax on luxuries and measures against profiteering.
