] ' A BRILLIANT FUMCTION? [ CELEBRATIONS GAILY ENDEL\ The jubilee celebrations of the Auek- - land Grammar School': were terminated 3 last evening, when a ball was held in the ■ * school. About 300 couples were 1 present. '* 1 and' the function, partly because -of" its ' novelty,*. 1 but '■ principally on 3 the excellent organisation,.".of . Boys* Association, was' .generally' s sidered to be one of the. most successful of its kind held in Auckland this, season. p The great assembly hall was the p'rin--0 cipal dancings floor, but.-the ; flanking doors 1 on three sides were thrown open and many j couples took advantage of the; passages, . 7 and odd groups could be seen dancing in the galleries. Here easy chairs and tables I were set for the benefit of card players. »' Chairs were also placed on the upper gallery and out on the roofless balconies, where in the intervals between the dances happy parties promenaded for. a . moment 5 before returning to the heated ballroom i | below. ~;., ; _ T Viewed from, the galleries ' the .dancing ' floor presented a brilliant scene.- The platj. _ form at one end-was decorated with ; palms, „ 3 daffodils and ' blue irises, 'the-school, col- £ ours.
