AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP. " WON BY H. SIEDEBERG. The finaJ session of the amateur billiard championship of New Zealand -was • -well patronised on Saturday evening, the room. at the Amateur Sports CJlub being filled ■with enthusiasts, who thoroughly enjoyed the game. • The scores at the conclusion of lb© session on Saturday afternoon were: Warren, 972 i Siedeberg in play, -with a break of i-lo unfinished, 1336. On resuming. Siedebers "ran his unfinished contribution to 178 full. Swinging along with ?reat- confidence, Siedeberg treated the audience to a fine losing hazard display,, his clean striking of the long losing hazard being specially good, and eventually he ran out a -winner by 684 points. The winner made other breaks of 145, 95, 84, 50, 43, 31. 24, 23. finishing with an average for the session of 14.2 and for the whole of the 2000 played of 13.4. These averages compare very favourably with the English and Australian amateur records, and should the New Zealand player ever cross cues with the best of the Australian. -or English amateurs he will have many "supporters.- Warren. who was defeated, played without a lot of his usual , dash, and it r may'be he is over- ■: trained, but he certainly; tried hard to win. 1 I Usually an attractive and accurate player of . ? the - long-loser, Warren all through the gain® 3 was uncertain - and missed many openings for Lt| the good breaks he is noted for.
