AUCKLAND WAR MEMORIAL.
POINT CHEVALIER OPINION. The City Council's proposals In regard to the erection of a war memorial in Auckland were considered by the Point Chevalier Road Board recently. The board decided to support the erection of » museum in the Domain, but the erection of a monument did not find favour, an it was considered this form of memorial was unsatisfactory. Members expressed the opinion that the construction of bridges and roads, urgently required, would be of greater public utility and a more fitting method of perpetuating the memory of tho men who had given their lives in the defence of the Empire. If, however, a monument were erected, it should be erected in Albert Park or in the Domain, in close proximity to the proposed museum.
