James Powell, a retired merchant of Westport, bequests totalling £24,500 have been made, as follows — i Jubilee Institute for the Blind, Auckland 3,000 Veterans' Home, Auckland ... 3,000 Presbyterian Church, Westport ... £1,000 Presbyterian Orphanage, Christchurch ... ... ... 1,000 St. Andrew's Orphanage, Nelson... 1,000 Buller Hospital Board, for Old Men's Home ... 3,500 Sailors' Rest, Westport 1,000 Public Library, Westport ... 1,000 Prisoners' Aid Protection Society, Dnnedin 3,000 Salvation Army of New Zealand... 4,000 Dr. Barnardo Home, England... 3,000 After all private legacies have been disposed of the residue of the estate, which is understood to amount to a very considerable sum, will be divided among the Auckland, Wellington, North Canterbury and Otago Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards.
