THE SCENT OF SPRING.
Here, at the edge of the wood, when the evening Halls And a pale moon rides on her way in a darkening sky And over the darkening ploughlands a. nlover calls, The spirit of sprint is horn as a fragrant sigh.
Brave little speedwell that weathered the winter .through. Scatters her gems on an, earth that would else be bare, And covers her breast with a myriad blossoms of blue. But the promise of life and of splendour is in the air.
Haunting and exquisite, cot to be rendered in words. This springtide. odour of all that is combe to birth. Telling of bad and of blossom and carol of birds And wonder of change that shall oome to a glorified earth.
And see. through a rustle of leaves in an. ecstasy leaps
The madman, of March at the sound of an alien tread. On through the wood where the blade of the hyacinth peeps. And the charm of the silence of evening is shattered and fled. Life! There is life in the air, in the wood, on the lea.
That which seemed death was but sleep and the slumber is past. Freedom has breathed on the world and her children are free. And the spell of the wizard of winter is conquered at la at!
