! These delightful —which, bv the way, are not for sale—are the handiwork of Mrs. Lilian Pirie, and she is exhibiting them every day, and charging la admission for the benefit of charities administered by the Ladies of the Settlements of St. Helens, Stratford, and Lady Margaret Hall, Kennington. Mrs. Pirie says that these pictures, which are veritable triumphs of needleciaft, do not take her long to do. She first obtains a photograph of the scene she wishes to reproduce and makes a rough pencil sketch of it on the material, which she mounts on a frame ; she then chooses the various coloured silks she requires and works in the whole colour scheme from memory ! These pictures, framed in gilt or black and gilt frames, make beautiful and original wedding gifts, and anyone with artistic tendencies should try for hemselves this fascinating needlework painting.
