MOTHER'S AWFUI, CRIME.
BETHiSFAI. TRAGEDY.-
, The tragic fate of two little children was described at the Bethnsl Green coroner's court recently, when an-inquest was held concerning the deaths of 'Maud Jackson and Lillian Harriet Jackson, who lived at Bethnal Green, with tboir .mother, Harriet Jackson, the wife of a sildier serving in Syria.
The coroner, Dr. Wynn Westcott, said the children were found killed, and it would be stated that after the "crime the mother went in en excited state to someone and stated that she herself had taken the ; lives of the little ones. Upon that confession she had been charged before a magistrate and remanded. , Arthur Vince, a tea-blender, -. the ' uncle of the murdered children, described the mother as a very respectable woman. She had been depressed lately, She had been expecting bar husband home, and could not get him, and seemed worried about it. The witness added that he visited the home after the tragedy, and saw tie deed children. He was also shown a bloodstained knife.
The knife, Which was produced, was a long-bladed weapon, such as is used by ham and bacon dealers.
