' faLJii* I ' B n ? te '$ ,**?' * tßt «d that tho Meadale A team had defaulted to Eemnera Hia previous week. As a matter of fact, the itemuera team turned on* several players . short, and decided to default to Edendale . and play a scratchi game. Edendale -school . - Has been one of the most consistent sup- , porters of school hockey since the inception of the competition, and has never defaulted a game of any description. Indeed, so keen is the prevailing spirit that the teams and emergencies regularly tare out full strength. ! This spirit is encouraged by the masters, as • witness the record entries for the last King's Birthday carnival, when every member of the i hockey teams participated also in the running events. In order' to" encourage this spirit generally among the schools, the association proposes to donate for the next carnival a trophy to be held by the -school securing the highest aggregate of points for all events on the programme. .
