. EPSOM. CLUB. - ' j The annua? meeting of tho Epsom BSwliac Club was held the other evening, the president, Mr. A- J. McGovran, presiding trtGf » large attendance-. The annual report stated that tha past season, from a playing point of vwsT could be considered a fftirly successful one. T3w summer green had worn well, taking into consideration the exceptionally dry autumn. The* membership now stood at SO- ordiowc? members, one. -honorary, and one associate. The club matches were all keenly contested, creating considerable interest, and resulted as follows: —Championship, Hy. Tanner -, handicap singles, George Anderson; handicap pairs, Francis and Turk; club fours, Hayes, Taylor, Clark, and A. Jones. T&e - new croquet lawa gave general satisfaction to the lady players. The financial, position, was fairly satisfactory. The committee had to exercise strict economy all through the season, and had only been able to do what it could with the greeij and pavilion from ,cca- ' tributions made by several members, either in labour or cash. The club was indebted : to Mr. Hinton for the concrete pagodas .-. i erected on the esntra path of the green. ' I Other members had also helped in various ways, ' while ilia ladies held a croquet and bowling afternoon, which was the means of adding about £30 to the club funds. Th» club was fairly well represented in all ceaina tournaments. Alfhongh not successful in securing a win. the teams made a good - showing. The election of officers resulted! — President. Mr. R.
