NEW SCHEME FOR BRITAIN. REFORMING THE RAILWAYS. A. and N.Z. LONDON. July 11. The Minister for Transport, Sir ■ Eric Geddes, foreshadows increased railway freights. He says the railways must be made to pay, and has , proposed a far-reaching scheme of reforms for economical use, eliminating competition, pooling rolling stock, increasing the waggon loads, standardising locomotives, and preventing delays. Similar schemes for docks, roads, and canals have been outlined. The heads of the departments of the new * i Ministry have been appointed. II —— I
