Mr. Roger Green, a member of die Legislative Council of Fiji, has been appointed secretary to the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific. Ho succeeds Mr. A. L. Ayton, who returns la England this month. Mr. P. J. Upton, general manager of the South British Insurance Company, Limited,, left by the Main Trunk express last evening for Wellington, where he will join the Athenic, en route to London. Mr. Upton is on a business mission to the Old Country, Brigadier-General H. E. Hart. C.M.C.. D.5.0., who returned to New Zealand by tho Corinthic, upon returning to Carterton will bo welcomed by the townspeople an the station. The following week an organised demonstration will be held, and both he and the returned soldiers of tho I district will be tendered a welcome in the Carterton Showgrounds.
