CATTLE TICK MENACE.
TAIHAPE FARMERS PROTEST. [DT TELEGRAPH.—MESS association.] TAIHAPE, Thursday. Measures for preventing the spread of the cattle tick in the North Island were discussed at a meeting of farmers in Taihape this morning and the following resolution was carried unanimously :— That this meeting views with alarm tho reported ' appearance of cattle tick in the Auckland Province, spreading over a considerable area, showing the fallacy of the theory that cattle tick could not exist south of the twenty fourth parallel lino of latitude; that the Government be requested to tako such steps as will entirely confine the pest to the area already affected, and even- , tually effect its eradication.
