STANDARDISED BOOTS.
MINISTER TAKING ACTION. FIXING LEATHER PRICES. [by TELEGRAPH.—OWN correspondent.] WELLINGTON. Thursday. Now that the question of hide prices has been decided, it is the intention of the Government to proceed with the filing of leather prices and the manufacture of standard boots. These matters, the Eon. W. D. S. MacDo r a!d explains, cannot be dealt with hurriedly, as the interests Of many parties have to be considered. Standard boote will probably nol be sold at prices much lower than those now charged, but the qualty will be guaranteed, and will be superior to that of the boots now sold at an equivalent price. The grade and price will be stamped plainly on each boot, s.< that there will be no room for exploitation.
