SCHOOL COAL SUPPLIES.

PREFERENCE IN CANTERBURY,

The Christchurch Coal Trade Committee has agreed to place schools in tho Canterbury district on its essential list in respect to supplies of coal, and has promised to see that they have preference over ordinary consumers. The Canterbury Education Board, in order to inform the Coal Trado Committee of tho total quantity of coal required for public schools, has asked each school committee in tiio district to state the approximate quantity required, the kind 0! coal preferred, and the merchant or firm from whom the committee has obtained coal.
