LOURDES BAZAAR OPENED.

FAMOUS TABLEAU STAGED,

The " Lourdes" bazaar, organised for the purpose of reducing the dobt on the Sacred Heart Church and school, was opened in the Town Hidl concert chamber on Saturday afternoon. In the absence of Dr. H. W. Cleary, Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland, the opening ceremony was performed by Dean Cahill, who referred to the good object for which the bazaar was being held, and complimented tho organisers on theii efforts. One of the main features of the bazaar will be the showing each evening of a series of tableaux depicting scenes that have occurred in connection with the pilgrimages to Lourdes, and tho marvellous cures that have been effected. The first of these tableaux was shown on Saturday evening, when the appearing of tho wonderful vision to the little French girl, Bernedette, was staged. The grouping of the figures and the arrangement of the tableaux were excellently managed, and made a really beautiful, scene. During the tableaux the famous Lourdes hymn was sung by St. Patrick's Cecilia Choir. Other tableaux will be shown each evening, and music rendered by special choirs.
