MAORI BATTALION ARRIVES. STRIKING SET OF VIEWS. BEAUTIFUL HISTORIC SOUVENIR. The arrival of, and welcome to, the Maori Battalion is splendidly illus&rated in to-day's issue of the Auckland WEBKVT Nkws, the collection of pictures forming'a valuable souvenir of this histcric event, which is unique in the annals of New Zealand. The series includes a most striking frontispiece, entitled "Haeremai! Haeremai!" depicting a native woman giving a spirited greeting to the men of her race who went forth to fight in tho Empire's cause. In addition tu this, there is a double-page of scenes at the Queen's Wharf, the march of the Maoris to the Domain, and tho hakas of welcome. Oither aspects of the arrival are also well portrayed. Another feature of the publication is the reproduction of several picturesque views depicting life <m. Nauru Island, a rich territory, in the Central Pacific, formerly held by the Germans, and now placed under the control ot Britain, New Zealand, and Australia, who will each have an aqual share jn the valuable phosphate of lime deposits for ■which, the island is famous. A page is devoted to snapshots of Stratford, one of the thriving towns of the Taranaki district, while another page illustrate a week-end holiday at Waiheke Island.
