MATRICULATION CONCESSION'S.
Speaking on the subject of concessions to returned soldiers to enable them to enter the university, the Hon J. A. Hanan, Minister for Education, said it ap- : peared to be not generally known that at the last session of the New Zealand University Senate, amendments for the benefit of those men had been made in the regulations governing the matriculation examination The alterations provide that soldiers who have been placed at a disadvantage bv their service as membere of the New Zealand Forees may be exempted provisionally from the examination for matriculation" on presentation of a provisional certificate of (a) a joint matriculation board of English universities; or_ (b) the military education board of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force; or (c) a professional board of an affiliated college. At the end of the student's first year the professional board shall advise tho Senate whether the matriculation should be confirmed and if so, whether it should be dated 'from the time of entrance or from the end of the first year. Application for provisional exemption should be made to the registrar of the university at which it is desired toattend. j
