TO-DAY'S EDITION. To-clay's issue of the Auckland Weekly ' News contains a very fine collection of illnstraticas. The many scenic attractions of Great Barrier Island are well portrayed by a double page of views, which wiii no doubt be appreciated by all readers of the paper. During the fast few weeks salvage operations have been carried out with the object of obtaining iron and other material from the Union Company's steamer Waikare, wrecked some years ago at Dusky Sound, and a splendid set of views reproduced, while giving en idea of the work carried on, also conveys to the eye the charms of the beautiful Sounds district of the South Island of New Zealand. Another very pleasing page is that devoted to the Ponsonby Regatta, which was held off St. Mary's Bay last Saturday. Picturesque glimpses of the Bay of Islands provide another attractive feature of the paper. Scenes in connection with the opening of the new playground at Victoria Park, the equipment /or which was donated by Mr. John Court, are also published. The recent visit by seaplane of Dr. H. W. Cleary, Roman Catholic. Bishop of Auckland, to the northern portion of his diocese is another subject pictorially touched upon. Views oi the damage caused by the recent hurricane at Fiji are of interest. Another of the series of cartoons in connection with the forthcoming licensing poll is published, and the issue also contains a variety of other illustrations of an interesting nature.
