NEW POLITICAL PARTY.
QUESTION OF LEADERSHIP.
SOUTHERN REPORT DENIED.
The statornent made by a Southern newspaper that Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P. for Egmonl, is to be the leader of the new " progressive " party is denied by Northern members of the House of Representatives interested in the party. "This jii one of the many capardß in circulation concerning tho new political wing," said ono member. "No leader has been appointed, and, as a matter of fact, the question of leadership has never been diecussed. If a new party to contest the noxt election is formed—and nothing is yet definitely decided—it might seek a leader outsido the personnel of the"present Houso of Representatives. One or two well-known public men, not yet mombers, who intend to contest the election, aro understood to be aspirants, but the chances of theso particular gentlemon are slight."
