CENSUS OF INDUSTRIES.
ANNUAL "BALANCE-SHEETS.'* It has been decided to fake the census of industries annually instead of at fiveyearly intervals as heretofore. This decision, stated the Minister for Internal Affairs last week, embodies a new departure, which should in time prove of great value to tho industrial community, /.king required to supply statistics each year, manufacturer wi}l become familiar with the nature of the information that fs required of them, and the officers who handle the statistics will ajso make mors informative comparisons. In effect, the statistics present an annual balance-sheet of each industry for the Dominion, and the individual manufacturer, knowing his own petition— will not, of course, be disclosed— be able to see in what direction he is above or below the average.
