DEATH OF MR. TOM READ.
WELL-KNOWN MUSICIAN, EXPIRES SUDDENLY IN STREET. Mr. Tom Read, a well-known jewelles in business in 'Karangahape Road, collapsed in Belgium Street soon after 3 o'clock last evening and died almost immediately. He had been attending a rehearsal of the Auckland Orphans' Clu'j orchestra at the Masonic Hal], and tin fata) seizure came on him one miriub > after ho left the building. Dr. CLE. A. Coldicutt was called, but Mr. Head died before he arrived. The deceased was an enthusiastic, musician and had been conj nected with various Auckland orchestral j for over thirty years. Last year he wsi leader of the Bohemian orchestra, an I ho was also leader of the orchestras <■$ the Orphans' ' Club and the Savage CM Mr. Bead was a married man and livf I at Grange Road, Mount Eden. Mj:s Rea V is absent from Auckland on a healtV» recruiting trip. He also leaves tw> children. His brother is Mr. (teorga Bead, also of Karangahape Road.
