ARMENIAN ASPIRATIONS.
INDEPENDENT REPUBLIC. LONDON, War. 4. " We demand an independent republic, covering the six Turkish provinces," said the Armenian delegation which the Peace Council heard on Wednesday. The Armenians declared that 200,000 of their people had fought, in the Russian army against the Germans, and claimed a republic with a solid army established, which 2,000,000 Russian Armenians were prepared to join. The council has already offered the Armenian mandate to America and the Caucasus mandate to Italy, as the latter desires to develop the oil supplies there.
