DECORATED FOR GALLANTRY.
THREE AUCKLAND SOLDIERS. Advice has been received by Mr. W. H. -Statham, of Epsom, that his eon, Lieutenant W. H. Statham, has been awarded the Military Cross for his gallantry during operations from November 3 to the end of hostilities. Lieutenant Statham went to the front three years ago as a sergeant with the first reinforcements for the Fiji contingent, and on gaining hi? commission was appointed to the King's Shropshire Li?ht Infantry. He waa serving with this regiment in Sir Julian Byng's Third Army in the last phase of the "war, and was acting as intelligence officer for his battalion. In this capacity, according to the official reoord, Lieutenant Statham acquired most valuable information, and displayed courage of the highest order. Sergeant L. R. Dickinson, son of Mrs. A. M. Dickinson, of Remuera, and Corporal E. Kelly, son of Mrs. G. Kelly, of V incent Street, have teen awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for gallantry on the field.
