THE AUSTRALIAN FLAG

Sir,—May 1 give my views re Common-: wealth flat'.' I. too, am a New Zealander, and have had the pleasure of seeing our troops march through streets in Australia. 1 do not agree with " N.Z.'*' in saying that our flag does not fly on these occasions. 1 hav; seen our beloved flag ir much evidence, and our " boys " received with deafening cheers. " Bomerang " is justified in bringing this matter tc light, although mistaken that there' were no Commonwealth flags flying. I saw one. Maobi.

Sir,—A correspondent, "Boomerang" I complains of the Australian flag not being flown on occasions of returning troops. I would like to see the Australian flag among others flown on these occasions. I am an Australian, and the father of three sons, Australian-born, who joined up with the Main Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force: and I believe there are a good number of others also who are serving with our forces. When I see the various displays I wondv why the Australian flag never appears. Did not our i boys fight shoulder to slioulder on Gal- ' lipoli and the blood-stained plains of Flanders, and other fighting fronts? A : brotherhood has sprung up between the | New Zealandrrs and Australians that j time cannot efface. We are no longer strangers, but brothers. Ballarat.
