TAX ON POULTRY-KEEPERS.
THE MOUNT EDEN PROPOSAL. [by telegraph.— coerespondknt.] CHRISTOHDRCH, Friday. At tho New Zealand Poultry Conferonce Mr S. H. Scott, Auckland, referred to the by-law proposed to be confirmed by the Mount Eden Borough Council imposing a yearly tax of on shilling on all persons keeping poultry, and also imposing certain conditions as to it he Jowlhouses and runs. With the permission of the conference, he moved:—"That the matter be referred to the executive." Mr. Merretfc said ho considered the matter was one for the Auckland poultrymen to taka up. The motion was defeated.
